Ladder Inspection Course

Duration: One day

Group Size: Maximum of 12 learners

Who should attend: Anyone who needs to carry out periodic inspections of ladders, step ladders and combination ladders.

Pre-requisites: It is a requirement that learners for this course have completed the Ladder Association Ladder and Steps training course, and it would be beneficial if delegates had a basic understanding of work at height issues

Course aims: To give learners the required competence level to enable them to carry out periodic inspections of ladders, step ladders and combination ladders in accordance with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of the course the learners will know how to:

  • Accurately record details of ladders and steps
  • Identify component parts using industry naming conventions
  • Thoroughly inspect ladders, stepladders, and identify safety critical faults
  • Record your findings in accordance with the statutory requirements (as outlined in PUWER ACOPs 163)
  • Recommend action to be taken if faults are found

  • Certification: A Ladder Association Certificate and Photo Card will be issued to successful learners who complete the Theory and Assessment sessions at the level they attend the course which has a five year validity period. A current Code of Practice booklet will also be issued to all learners who attend the course
